While beauty enriches our lives in many ways, it also has the power to seduce and evoke desire around products we might not actually need. This intriguing paradox inspired Kilian Vos and photography duo Maria to delve into the notion of 'redundant beauty,' giving birth to a surreal image series centred around a fictional CGI inflatable collection.
The visual narrative of 'Floatables' transports its audience to a serene poolside oasis, where a series of sculptural CGI inflatables gracefully drift through the otherworldly landscape. However, upon closer inspection, it becomes apparent that these objects are nothing more than air encased in a highly aesthetic, yet vacuous shell. Floatables is an invitation to question our relationship with beauty and perfection, and the role it plays in our lives. Do these inflatables incite superfluous desire, or can they inspire us to appreciate the aesthetic value of everyday objects?
